Research

Competitive Analysis

Current versions of DDLs are functional but do not differentiate themselves from a physical ID and simply use a photo of a physical ID. Specifically the MiD app has difficulty loading and does not give the user feedback. It also requires many steps to filter information to what the user needs.

Design Patterns

Adding more contrast to DDLs by incorporating strong branding and improved typographical hierarchy could make them better for the user.

Initial Process

Sketches

I started with sketching out general layouts for the user flow with some stylistic elements.

Wireframes

I made 2 versions of my wireframes to quickly iterate on my original design.

Grid System

I used a grid syste to keep my content aligned for mobile.

Compositions

Inspiration Board

I made an inspiration board to direct my visual style & brainstorm various Delaware icons.

Takeaways

Iterate quickly.

Rapidly creating many versions of this app helped me improve the design quickly & see what works & what didn't.

Brand consistently.

Strong, consistent branding improves a design greatly by giving guidelines that build a strong visual hierarchy.
